Ottawa Foodie Urges You to Support Local Eats

With the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions put in place in order to lower the spread of the virus in Ottawa, local restaurant owners have been heavily impacted. We are seeing an incline of  local restaurants suffering financially and having to close their doors permanently as individuals are choosing to order from larger food chains. For example, the famous Tucker’s Marketplace, in the heart of our downtown Byward Market has had to shutdown. As an Ottawa Foodie, I love to support local. I was devastated by this saddening news and I believe it is important to raise awareness for our local spots. Thus, I urge you all to support local during these challenging times. 

Local Spot in Ottawa 

The first place I want to travel to post-pandemic is China! With many travel restrictions in place to help protect citizens worldwide, I have to put my plans on pause to ensure the safety of everyone. Once these restrictions are lifted, I am planning to visit my family in China and, of course, to enjoy the delicious food spots that China has to offer. For now, what better way to get a taste of China, than supporting a local authentic Chinese restaurant!

As your Ottawa Foodie, my pro tip is for you to pick up your food in-store or curb side rather than using food delivery apps.  By doing so, it will ensure that your payment goes directly to the restaurant and you are doing your part in keeping local restaurants afloat financially during these difficult times.
